ohhh my little blog, i am so sorry for neglecting you! the past 2 weeks have been amazingly crazy with my fabulous nyc vaca and then working my ass off setting up the new anthropologie in yorkville (which has also been somewhat of a fabulous experience- the art installations are all created from recycled materials, photos to follow.)

and what can i say about new york, except that it is my love and i had the opportunity to go with my my favouritest person everr.. the city is thriving at all hours of the day and night and there are so many different and unique pockets to explore. highlights included 5th avenue window displays, shopping in soho (uniqlo and miniature cupcakes love), grand central station lux architecture, a fantastic walk along park ave and into the shadey spaces of central park, and champange and bottle service in the meatpacking district.

of course, not to be ignored was my inspirational visit to the MoMA, where I was exposed to a variety curious and thought-provoking pieces that serve as wonderful creativity stimulants. i took over 100 photos on this day. the featured installation there was a work by song dong called "waste not."

"Beijing-based artist Song Dong (b. 1966) explores notions of transience and impermanence with installations that combine aspects of performance, video, photography, and sculpture. Projects 90, his first solo U.S. museum show, presents his recent work Waste Not. A collaboration first conceived of with the artist's mother, the installation consists of the complete contents of her home, amassed over fifty years during which the Chinese concept of wu jin qi yong, or "waste not," was a prerequisite for survival. The assembled materials, ranging from pots and basins to blankets, oil flasks, and legless dolls, form a miniature cityscape that viewers can navigate around and through."

"the possessiveness of the old became the claustrophobia of the young"
